Connecticut and Dayton, two of the eight schools participating in the 2014 Puerto Rico Tip-Off, captured a pair of victories in overtime Thursday in the NCAA Championships at Buffalo, N. Y. After 11th-seeded Dayton posted the first upset of the 2014 Championships with a 60-59 win over sixth-seeded Ohio State, seventh-seeded UConn outlasted 10th-seeded Saint Joseph's 89-81. With the victories, Dayton challenges third-seeded Syracuse before Connecticut meets second-seeded Villanova in a pair of Saturday games in Buffalo.
New Mexico, the third of three PRTO's schools in the NCAA Championships, opens play Friday against Stanford (1:40 p.m. ET on TBS) in St. Louis. Texas A&M is also competing in the post-season and plays a College Basketball Insider game Monday at Illinois State (9 p.m., CBS Sports Network).
Other schools in the 2014 Puerto Rico Tip-Off are Boston College, College of Charleston, George Mason and West Virginia.
While the season for BC, Charleston and Mason ended in the conference
tournaments, West Virginia competed in the NIT. The Mountaineers
were eliminated earlier this week by 2013 Puerto Rico Tip-Off
participant Georgetown. The eighth annual Puerto Rico Tip-Off will be
played November 20, 21 and 23.
