NFL FOUNDATION NAMES SUSIE SPANOS AND STEVE TISCH
TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The NFL Foundation today announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. Joining the NFL Foundation Board are SUSIE SPANOS, philanthropist and wife of San Diego Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos, and STEVE TISCH, New York Giants chairman and executive vice president.
The NFL Foundation is the league's nonprofit organization that supports the health, safety and wellness of athletes, youth football and the communities which support the game. The Foundation works with the league, its 32 Clubs, and current and former players to give back to NFL communities. The NFL Foundation provided certified athletic trainers in underserved schools, refurbished fields for use by sports and community organizations, and various grants for the philanthropic efforts of more than 500 current and former NFL players in 2016.
"We are pleased to welcome Susie Spanos and Steve Tisch to the NFL Foundation Board," said NFL Foundation Chairman CHARLOTTE JONES ANDERSON. "Their dedication to philanthropy is impressive and we look forward to working together on important initiatives to support athletes and their communities."
Susan Spanos is a fifth-generation Californian with a proud record of service to her community. She is on the board of the Chargers Community Foundation and is active in Foundation's Chargers Champions program. To date the Foundation has provided more that $15 million in financial support to youth, education and health programs in San Diego County. She was named Woman of the Year by the Leukemia Society of San Diego for her outstanding fundraising efforts on their behalf and Chaired the San Diego Zoo's annual RITZ Gala, raising a record breaking amount at the time. Susan and her husband Dean have two sons, Alexander (A.G.) and John, and reside in La Jolla.
"I am excited and proud to join the members of the NFL Foundation in their important philanthropic work," said Spanos. "I look forward to continuing the Chargers' long-standing support of our community as a member of the Foundation board and supporting the league's unwavering commitment to this important endeavor."
Steve Tisch has been involved with the New York Giants since his father, Preston Robert Tisch, purchased 50 percent of the franchise in 1991. He joined the organization as Executive Vice President in July 2005, and after his father passed away, assumed the additional title of Chairman. In May 2014, at a White House summit on youth and sports concussions, President Obama announced Steve's leadership gift to the David Geffen School of Medicine for the UCLA Steve Tisch BrainSPORT Program. The donation is the single largest gift from an individual to a medical center for a concussion-related initiative. The gift creates the first U.S. fellowship program to train pediatric neurologists who specialize in sports concussions, and establishes the world's most sophisticated research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment program for concussions and brain injuries with a particular emphasis on young athletes.
"The NFL Foundation has a longstanding history of charitable giving and community impact," said Tisch. "I am honored to join the Board of Directors in their commitment to work on behalf of underserved communities and organizations across the country."
Spanos and Tisch join Chairman Charlotte Jones Anderson, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of the Dallas Cowboys; MICHAEL BIDWILL, president of the Arizona Cardinals; KIM PEGULA, owner of the Buffalo Bills; ARTHUR J. ROONEY II, president of the Pittsburgh Steelers; and LEONARD WILF, owner of the Minnesota Vikings on the NFL Foundation Board.

DETROIT LIONS (9-4) en NEW YORK GIANTS (9-4) (Domingo, FOX, 1:00 PM, hora de New York)

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (11-2) en DENVER BRONCOS (8-5) (Domingo, CBS, 4:25 PM, hora de New York)

PLAYOFF RACES HEAT UP AS 26 TEAMS REMAIN IN CONTENTION FOR TRIP TO SUPER BOWL LI

-- Week 15 also features return of Saturday night football as Dolphins visit Jets on NFL Network --

With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the suspense continues to build as teams make their final playoff push. Twenty-six teams remain in contention for a trip to Super Bowl LI.

The Dallas Cowboys are the only team that has clinched a spot in the postseason. So as we approach the final three weeks of the regular season, there are still 11 playoff berths up for grabs.

Dallas (11-2) can clinch both the NFC East division title and a first-round bye with a win and a New York Giants loss. If the Cowboys win and the game between the Giants and Detroit ends in a tie, Dallas will also secure home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. The Lions (9-4) can win the NFC North with a victory and a Green Bay loss. Seattle (8-4-1) can clinch the NFC West with a win or an Arizona loss. The Giants (9-4) can secure a playoff berth with a win and losses by Washington, Green Bay and Minnesota.

New England (11-2) can clinch the AFC East division title and a first-round bye with a win. If the Patriots lose in Week 15, New England can still win the division with a Miami loss and can still secure a first-round bye with a Miami loss and either a Pittsburgh loss or a Kansas City win. Kansas City (10-3) can clinch a playoff berth with a win or with losses by Denver and either Pittsburgh or Baltimore. Oakland (10-3) can secure a playoff spot with a win. There are also various scenarios for Oakland to advance to the postseason this week even if the Raiders lose.

Week 15 begins on Thursday night when the Los Angeles Rams visit the Seahawks (8:25 PM ET, NBC/NFLN/Twitter) in an NFC West match-up. The Rams have won each of the past three meetings between the teams, including a 9-3 victory in Week 2. Seattle is 13-2 (.867) in the team’s past 15 home games after December 1, including the postseason (4-0).

The action continues on Saturday night (8:25 PM ET, NFL Network) when the Dolphins visit the New York Jets in an AFC East showdown. The Jets have won three of the past four meetings between the clubs, but the Dolphins won the Week 9 contest between the teams, 27-23. At 8-5, Miami is right in the middle of the AFC postseason race with three games remaining.

The week concludes with a pair of primetime contests with playoff implications. On Sunday night (8:30 PM ET, NBC), the Cowboys host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas, which had its 11-game winning streak snapped last week, is looking to lock up the division title and a first-round bye. The Buccaneers have won five consecutive games, tied for the longest current streak in the league (Detroit), and enter Week 15 with an 8-5 record, tied with Atlanta for first place in the NFC South.

On Monday night (8:30 PM ET, ESPN), the Washington Redskins host the Carolina Panthers. At 7-5-1, Washington is in the thick of the NFC playoff race with three weeks remaining. Carolina, the defending NFC champions, have won four in a row against the Redskins and look to keep their playoff hopes alive. Some of the key games in Week 15:

TENNESSEE TITANS (7-6) at KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (10-3) (Sunday, CBS, 1:00 PM ET)

  • Tennessee has won two games in a row and is tied with Houston for first place in the AFC South. With three games remaining, the Titans are in control for the division title. Last week, Tennessee defeated Denver 13-10 as running back DE MARCO MURRAY rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown. Murray leads the AFC with 1,135 rushing yards.

  • The Chiefs have won eight of their past nine games, including last week’s 21-13 victory over Oakland.TYREEK HILL had a 78-yard punt-return touchdown and a 36-yard receiving touchdown in the win against the Raiders. Hill is only the third rookie in NFL history – and the first since Pro Football Hall of Famer GALE SAYERS in 1965 – to have a receiving touchdown, a rushing touchdown, a punt-return touchdown and a kickoff-return touchdown in a season.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (8-5) at CINCINNATI BENGALS (5-7-1) (Sunday, CBS, 1:00 PM ET)

  • Pittsburgh leads the AFC North by one game over Baltimore heading into Week 15. Last week at Buffalo, running back LE’VEON BELL had 298 scrimmage yards (236 rushing, 62 receiving) and three touchdowns in the Steelers’ 27-20 win, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer JIM BROWN as the only players in NFL history with at least 225 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns and 50 receiving yards in a single game. With three games remaining, Pittsburgh is in control for the AFC North division title.

  • The Bengals kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23-10 win at Cleveland last week. In the victory over the Browns, quarterback ANDY DALTON threw two touchdown passes to tight end TYLER EIFERTwhile running back JEREMY HILL rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown.

DETROIT LIONS (9-4) at NEW YORK GIANTS (9-4) (Sunday, FOX, 1:00 PM ET)

  • The Lions improved to 9-4 with last week’s 20-17 victory over Chicago. It marked the eighth time this season in which the Lions won a game after trailing in the fourth quarter, the most such wins in a season in NFL history. Quarterback MATTHEW STAFFORD, who scored the game-winning touchdown on a seven-yard rush with 3:17 remaining in the fourth quarter, has led eight game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime this season, the most by a quarterback in a single season since the 1970 merger. With three games remaining, Detroit is in control for the NFC North division title and a first-round bye.

  • The Giants defeated Dallas 10-7 on Sunday night as New York moved to 9-4 and remains in control for a playoff berth. Wide receiver ODELL BECKHAM JR. scored the game-winning touchdown on a 61-yard pass from quarterback ELI MANNING. Beckham has nine career touchdown receptions of at least 60 yards, the second-most by a player in his first three seasons in NFL history (HARLON HILL, 10).

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (11-2) at DENVER BRONCOS (8-5) (Sunday, CBS, 4:25 PM ET)

  • The Patriots, who defeated Baltimore 30-23 on Monday night, are closing in on the AFC East division title and a first-round bye. With a victory, New England will become the first team in NFL history to win eight consecutive division titles. The Patriots remain in control for home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs. Against the Ravens, quarterback TOM BRADY passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns. Brady has 52 career wins in December, tying Pro Football Hall of Famer BRETT FAVRE(December) for the most wins by a starting quarterback in any calendar month.

  • The Broncos find themselves in the thick of the AFC postseason race with an 8-5 record. Denver closes the season against three teams with double-digit win totals – New England (11), Kansas City (10) and Oakland (10). Broncos linebacker VON MILLER has 13.5 sacks this season, tied for the NFL lead. In last year’s AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, Miller had 2.5 sacks and an interception as Denver advanced to Super Bowl 50 with a 20-18 victory.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (8-5) at DALLAS COWBOYS (11-2) (Sunday, NBC, 8:30 PM ET)

  • The Buccaneers have won five consecutive games and are tied with Atlanta for first place in the NFC South. Last week, Tampa Bay defeated New Orleans 16-11 as running back DOUG MARTIN rushed for a touchdown and the Buccaneers’ defense recorded three interceptions. At 8-5, Tampa Bay is in control for a playoff berth.

  • The Cowboys are the only team in the NFL that has clinched a spot in the postseason. With a win and a New York Giants loss this week, Dallas will secure both the NFC East division title and a first-round bye. The Cowboys also have a shot to seize the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC if they win and the game between the Giants and Lions ends in a tie. Rookie running back EZEKIEL ELLIOTT rushed for 107 yards last week – his sixth 100-yard performance this season – and leads the NFL with 1,392 rushing yards.

CAROLINA PANTHERS (5-8) at WASHINGTON REDSKINS (7-5-1) (Monday, ESPN, 8:30 PM ET)

  • The Panthers defeated San Diego 28-16 in Week 14 to keep the team’s playoff hopes alive. The defending NFC champions trail Atlanta and Tampa Bay by three games in the NFC South with three games to play. Carolina has won 12 of its past 14 regular-season games in December/January, outscoring its opponents by 127 points (382-255).

  • The Redskins held off division rival Philadelphia 27-22 last week and remain in playoff contention with three weeks remaining. Last week, wide receiver DE SEAN JACKSON caught an 80-yard touchdown pass from quarterback KIRK COUSINS. Jackson has 22 career touchdowns of at least 60 yards, the second-most in NFL history (JERRY RICE, 23). Cousins has passed for 4,045 yards this season and is the only quarterback in franchise history to reach 4,000 passing yards in multiple seasons. He passed for a club-record 4,166 yards last season.

Three teams will play their first regular-season games in London in 2017 – the Arizona Cardinals, the visiting team against their NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham in Week 7 or 8; the Baltimore Ravens, the visiting team against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley in Week 3 or 4; and the Cleveland Browns, the home team against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 or 8 at Twickenham.
The Miami Dolphins will play their fourth regular-season game in London, this time against the New Orleans Saints, who make their second appearance in a regular-season game in the UK.  The Jaguars will play a home game in London for the fifth consecutive season.
At the conclusion of the 2017 season, 26 teams will have played in London since the inception of the London Games Series in 2007.  Since that time, the NFL has achieved accelerated growth in the UK. Sunday viewership of NFL games has more than doubled and the Super Bowl audience has increased more than 75 percent. This season, the NFL is on pace to reach a record number of unique TV viewers in the UK.  The league also has developed new and stronger business partnerships and, according to internal research, has a UK fan base of more than 13 million, including close to four million avid fans.
Participation in amateur football in the UK has risen by approximately 15 percent per year since 2007, with the latest figures from Sport England showing that 40,000 people age 14 or older play regularly. American football is now an officially recognized sport in UK universities and schools.

PRO BOWL SKILLS SHOWDOWN ANNOUNCED
-- Airs Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN --
-- Pro Bowlers face off in an AFC vs. NFC skills showdown in Orlando --
-- NFL Legends Captains will lead the Pro Bowlers in unique competitions --
The Pro Bowl Skills Showdown, pitting AFC and NFC All-Stars against each other in unique competitions, will air during Pro Bowl Week on Thursday, January 26 at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN, the NFL announced today.
The Skills Showdown is a part of the re-imagined Pro Bowl Week, culminating in the 2017 Pro Bowl, which features a return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC format following three years using a revised, "unconferenced" structure.
The 2017 Pro Bowl Legends Captains, JEROME BETTIS and RAY LEWIS of the AFC andTONY GONZALEZ and CHARLES WOODSON of the NFC, will lead their respective squads.
Each team in the Skills Showdown will feature a mix of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, linemen, linebackers, and defensive backs.
Taking place at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, the Skills Showdown will be produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions, producers of such shows as American Ninja Warrior and Hell’s Kitchen.
Competitions include:
  • Epic Pro Bowl Dodgeball: Pro Bowlers will compete in a game of dodgeball.
  • Power Relay Challenge: Four team members will compete in a timed relay race.
  • Precision Passing: Two players on each team will battle it out, trying to hit moving targets of varying size and distance.
  • Best Hands: Quarterback and wide receiver duos from each team will show off their skills, connecting on as many pass attempts as possible before time runs out.
Fans are encouraged to join the conversation surrounding the new Pro Bowl Skills Showdown on social media using the hashtag #ProBowlSkills.

The Pro Bowl rosters are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

The Pro Bowl players will be announced on Tuesday, December 20 in a live primetime special on NFL Network. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, December 16.

Fan voting for the 2017 Pro Bowl will end tomorrow, Tuesday, December 13. Fans can vote online and on web-enabled mobile phones at [/Pages/www.NFL.com/probowlvote]www.NFL.com/probowlvote. Fans may also vote for who they want to see on the 2017 Pro Bowl roster via social media by using #ProBowlVote and the player’s first and last name on Twitter and Instagram. On Facebook, fans may comment on any official Pro Bowl Vote post by the NFL or a club. See official rules on how to vote at www.NFL.com/probowlvoterules.com.

The 2017 Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2017 and simulcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes from Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Fans may visit NFL.com/ProBowlOnSale to purchase game tickets.

EIGHT FINALISTS ANNOUNCED FOR
2016 ART ROONEY SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
-- WINNER TO BE REVEALED AT NFL HONORS BEFORE SUPER BOWL LI --
The eight finalists for the 2016 ART ROONEY SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD have been named, the NFL announced today. The finalists, featuring four players from each conference, are linebacker BRIAN CUSHING (Houston), running back FRANK GORE (Indianapolis), linebacker DE MARCUS WARE(Denver) and guard/tackle MARSHAL YANDA (Baltimore) in the AFC, and tight end GREG OLSEN(Carolina), linebacker JULIUS PEPPERS (Green Bay), running back DARREN SPROLES(Philadelphia) and tackle JOE STALEY (San Francisco) in the NFC. All eight of the finalists have Pro Bowl experience and have a combined 38 Pro Bowl selections.
Each NFL team nominated one of its players for the award, which recognizes those who best demonstrate the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. The award was created in 2014 in honor of the late founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pro Football Hall of Famer ART ROONEY, SR.
A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community selected the eight finalists from the 32 nominees. The panel is comprised of WARRICK DUNNCURTIS MARTINKARL MECKLENBURGand LEONARD WHEELER.
The eight finalists will be listed on the Pro Bowl ballot under the NFL Sportsmanship Award category when players vote on Friday, December 16. From the eight finalists, each team’s players will submit a consensus vote of their choice for the winner. As in Pro Bowl voting, a team cannot vote for its own player.
Last year, the players selected CHARLES WOODSON of the Oakland Raiders as the recipient of the 2015 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. LARRY FITZGERALD of the Arizona Cardinals was the inaugural winner of the award in 2014.
The winner selected by the vote of the players will be announced during the nationally televised NFL Honors show on Saturday, February 4 on FOX, the night before Super Bowl LI. He will receive a $25,000 donation from the NFL Foundation to a charity of his choice. He will also receive a trophy that represents the important role that sportsmanship plays in the game and how NFL players that demonstrate integrity and honor on the field serve as role models for players at all levels.
