SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - El puertorriqueño Joshua James Pagan (10-0, 4 KO) y el también invicto Trevor Thonson (13-0, 10 KO) encabezarán la primera edición de “BIG TIME BOXING PUERTO RICO” en el icónico Coca-Cola Music Hall de San Juan el viernes, 18 de octubre. La pelea, programada para 10 asaltos en la división de peso ligero, es una muy importante para ambos prospectos en ascenso que buscan brillar en su debut en el evento principal, que se transmitirá en vivo a nivel mundial por DAZN.

En el combate coestelar del próximo 18 de octubre desde la nueva arena principal de la Isla, el colombiano Juan Carillo (12-0, 9 KO) se enfrentará al dominicano Lenín Castillo (25-5-1, 19 KO) a 10 asaltos en el peso semipesado. El resto de la cartelera, que contará con un total de ocho encuentros, será anunciado próximamente. El evento es presentado por Salita Promotions en colaboración con PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) y 21 Events, y es parte de la serie “Big Time Boxing USA” de Salita Promotions, la serie líder en desarrollo para prometedores prospectos y jóvenes contendientes en su viaje hacia un campeonato mundial.

“Históricamente, San Juan ha sido una de las capitales mundiales del boxeo”, dijo Dmitriy Salita, presidente de Salita Promotions. “Estamos orgullosos de llevar el calor puertorriqueño al mundo con estos enfrentamientos de alto riesgo en DAZN. Joshua Pagán se enfrenta al quinto peleador invicto de su carrera en apenas su undécima pelea profesional. Dará un gran paso hacia el estrellato con una victoria sobre Trevor Thonson. Thonson es un gran oponente y un rival difícil para cualquiera en esta división. Del mismo modo, el poderoso Juan Carillo está decidido a hacer una declaración contra un Lenín Castillo probado en batalla. Pagán, conocido por el apodo de “Double J”, tiene 24 años y es nativo de Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pagán ha impresionado a los fanáticos y expertos durante sus primeras 10 peleas profesionales, especialmente con su victoria más reciente en mayo, por una estrecha decisión unánime sobre el entonces prospecto invicto Roger Hilley. Pagán actualmente posee el cinturón de título súper ligero de la NABF Junior y es entrenado por su padre, Víctor Pagán.

Thonson en un fuerte pegador de 32 años, natural de Montreal, Canadá. Ganó sus primeras ocho peleas profesionales por nocaut. Thonson se convirtió en profesional en 2022 y ya ha peleado cuatro veces este año, incluido el mes pasado cuando se agenció una victoria por decisión unánime sobre el local Pablo Marcos Villafañe en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Entrenado por Bobby McRoy, Thonson ha tenido un gran sparring mientras entrenaba en Las Vegas trabajando con los campeones mundiales Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson y Brandon Figueroa, entre otros.

“Encabezar una cartelera de DAZN será una experiencia increíble”, dijo Thonson. “Pero es sólo el primero de muchos. El fuerte peso semipesado Juan Carrillo es un zurdo de 31 años de Barranquilla, Colombia. Carrillo lució impresionante en su última salida en marzo cuando noqueó a Quinton Rankin en el tercer asalto en el evento principal de “Big Time Boxing USA” promovido por Salita Promotions en Wayne State Fieldhouse, Detroit. Carillo fue miembro de la selección colombiana y compitió en los Juegos Olímpicos de 2016 en Río de Janeiro, Brasil.

“Estoy emocionado de volver al ring, especialmente contra un peleador muy duradero pero, sobre todo, experimentado”, dijo Carrillo. “Esta es mi oportunidad de demostrarle a todos que estoy listo para llevar las cosas al siguiente nivel y más allá. Estoy tratando de llegar hasta la cima. Una victoria contra Lenín Castillo legitima mis habilidades como un prospecto serio y demostrará que no soy simplemente un boxeador invicto con un historial acolchado. He estado pidiendo grandes peleas y creo que una victoria aquí me acercará un paso más a una oportunidad de título mundial. Con suerte, en algún momento de este año o principios del próximo, estaré luchando por un título mundial”.

El dominicano Lenin Castillo, de 36 años, compitió en los Juegos Olímpicos de 2008 en Beijing, China, y ganó una medalla de bronce en 2009 en el Campeonato Continental Americano. En 2019, Castillo desafió al gran campeón mundial libra por libra Dmitry Bivol por su título de peso semipesado de la AMB y sufrió una derrota por decisión unánime. En su última pelea en julio, Castillo registró una decisión unánime sobre Reynaldo Acevdeo Carmona.

“Me siento muy feliz de regresar a Puerto Rico a pelear”, dijo Castillo. “Tengo muchos amigos allí y espero que estén conmigo. Puerto Rico es un país de boxeo y sé que nos apoyarán. Carrillo es un buen boxeador. Lo he visto pelear varias veces y creo que será una buena pelea. Tenemos estilos similares. La única diferencia es que él es zurdo. Pero creo que mi experiencia y haberme enfrentado a tipos como Bivol será un factor importante”.

Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) today announced the addition of an electrifying WBC Welterweight Championship bout, with reigning champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios (29-2, 18 KOs) set to defend his title against Abel Ramos (28-6-2, 22 KOs). The 12-round WBC Welterweight Championship bout will take place on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson and Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano super event on Friday, November 15, 2024. Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson will stream live globally, exclusively on Netflix from the 80,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Paul vs. Tyson and Taylor vs. Serrano 2 is anticipated to be the biggest boxing event in modern history, and fans can purchase tickets now at seatgeek.com.

Mario "El Azteca" Barrios is a rising star in the world of boxing, known for his fierce fighting style and deep connection to his Mexican heritage. Growing up in San Antonio, Texas, Mario was introduced to the sport at age six by his mother, Isabel Soto, who took him and his sister Selina to a local gym. Inspired by his cultural roots, Barrios embraced the moniker "El Azteca," a tribute to the rich history and warrior spirit of the Aztec civilization, reflecting both his pride in his Mexican heritage and his relentless pursuit of greatness inside the ring.

He captured his first world title in 2019, defeating Batyr Akhmedov in a thrilling fight. Barrios later moved up to welterweight, where he faced top contenders, including a memorable bout against Gervonta "Tank" Davis in 2021. Abel Ramos, a relentless welterweight contender from Casa Grande, Arizona, is known for his thrilling battles and relentless determination in the ring. Transitioning to the professional ranks in 2011, he quickly built a reputation for his power and resilience, taking on formidable opponents like Ivan Baranchyk and Regis Prograis. This will be Ramos’ second world title opportunity after a SD loss to Yordenis Ugas in 2020. Ramos's most dramatic victory came in 2020 with a last-second knockout against Bryant Perrella.

We generated record financial results and our business continued to perform well due to the strength of our content and brand, which drove audience engagement and monetization across multiple platforms,” said Nick Khan, WWE Chief Executive Officer. “In 2023, we’re focused on continuing to execute on our key operational initiatives, such as the domestic licensing of our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown, as well as the international licensing of our content in key markets. At the same time, we’re focused on the review of strategic alternatives that we announced earlier this year, with the goal of maximizing value for all shareholders.” Frank Riddick, WWE President & Chief Financial Officer, added, “For the year, we achieved record revenue and Adjusted OIBDA, which was at the very high end of our upwardly revised guidance range. In 2022, Adjusted OIBDA increased 19% reflecting 18% revenue growth. Our financial performance was primarily driven by the return to a full year of ticketed live events, including the staging of two large-scale international events, as well as the contractual escalation of rights fees for our flagship weekly programming and premium live events. In 2023, we anticipate Adjusted OIBDA of $395 to $410 million, reflecting continued revenue growth and relatively flat operating expenses.” Fourth-Quarter Consolidated Results Revenue increased 5% to $325.3 million, primarily due to an increase in network revenues related to the timing of premium live events as well as higher monetization of third-party original programming. These increases were partially offset by a decline in consumer products licensing and eCommerce revenue. Results also included the staging of a large-scale international event in both the current and prior year periods. 1 2 Operating Income decreased 22%, or $17.9 million, to $62.7 million, as the increase in revenue was offset by an increase in operating expenses. The increase in operating expenses was primarily driven by higher costs to support the creation of content. To a lesser extent, costs associated with the Special Committee investigation and related matters as well as higher stock compensation expense also contributed to the increase in operating expenses. (See the “Special Committee Investigation and Related Matters” discussion for further details.) The Company’s operating income margin decreased to 19% from 26%. Adjusted OIBDA decreased 4% to $90.2 million. The Company’s Adjusted OIBDA margin decreased to 28% from 30%. Net Income was $38.8 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, a decrease from $60.9 million, or $0.73 per diluted share, primarily reflecting the decrease in operating performance. Cash flows generated by operating activities were $120.3 million, an increase from $46.6 million, as lower net income was more than offset by the favorable timing of collections associated with the Company’s large-scale international events. Free Cash Flow was $43.0 million, an increase from $31.8 million, as the increase in cash flow generated by operating activities was partially offset by an increase in capital expenditures. For the three months ended December 31, 2022, the Company incurred $71.7 million of capital expenditures related to its new headquarter facility. Excluding the capital expenditures related to the new headquarter facility, Free Cash Flow for the three months ended December 31, 2022 was $114.7 million. Return of Capital to Shareholders The Company returned $8.9 million of capital to shareholders in dividends in the fourth quarter of 2022. There were no share repurchases under the Company’s existing stock repurchase program. Full Year 2022 Consolidated Results Revenue increased 18%, or $196.3 million, to $1.3 billion, primarily due to the increased monetization of content, the return to a full year of ticketed live events and the staging of an additional large-scale international event in 2022. Operating Income increased 11%, or $27.3 million, to $283.3 million, as the increase in revenue was partially offset by an increase in operating expenses. The increase in operating expenses was primarily driven by higher costs to support the creation of content as well as the impact of certain costs associated with the Special Committee investigation and related matters. (See the “Special Committee Investigation and Related Matters” discussion for further details.) The Company’s operating income margin decreased to 22% from 23%. Adjusted OIBDA increased 19%, or $60.5 million, to $384.6 million. The Company’s Adjusted OIBDA margin remained flat at 30%. Net Income increased to $195.6 million, or $2.29 per diluted share, from $177.4 million, or $2.09 per diluted share, primarily reflecting the increase in operating performance. The results for 2022 also reflected a decrease in interest expense partially offset by an increase in income taxes. Cash flows generated by operating activities were $325.6 million, an increase from $182.9 million, primarily due to the timing of collections associated with the Company’s large-scale international events and WWE Network, as well as improved operating performance. Free Cash Flow was $125.7 million, a decrease from $143.7 million, as the increase in cash flows generated by operating activities was offset by an increase in capital expenditures. For the twelve months ended December 31, 2022, the Company incurred $170.6 million of capital expenditures related to its new headquarter facility. Excluding the capital expenditures related to the new headquarter facility, Free Cash Flow for the twelve months ended December 31, 2022 was $296.3 million. Cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments were $478.7 million as of December 31, 2022. The Company currently estimates debt capacity under its revolving line of credit of $200 million. Return of Capital to Shareholders The Company returned $75.7 million to shareholders in 2022, including $40.0 million in share repurchases and $35.7 million in dividends paid. Under the Company’s existing stock repurchase program, approximately 5.3 million shares have been repurchased to-date at an average price of $54.09 per share. Adjusted OIBDA increased 59%, or $21.1 million, to $56.6 million. 2023 Business Outlook The Company is targeting Adjusted OIBDA of $395 - $410 million for the full year 2023, which would be another all-time record result. The Company also expects to generate another year of all-time record revenue in 2023. This anticipated performance reflects an expected increase in media rights fees for the Company’s flagship weekly programming and premium live events, as well as a full live events touring schedule, including two large-scale international events, and an increase in advertising and sponsorship revenues. Return of Capital to Shareholders The Company returned $8.9 million of capital to shareholders in dividends in the fourth quarter of 2022. There were no share repurchases under the Company’s existing stock repurchase program. Full Year 2022 Consolidated Results Revenue increased 18%, or $196.3 million, to $1.3 billion, primarily due to the increased monetization of content, the return to a full year of ticketed live events and the staging of an additional large-scale international event in 2022. Operating Income increased 11%, or $27.3 million, to $283.3 million, as the increase in revenue was partially offset by an increase in operating expenses. The increase in operating expenses was primarily driven by higher costs to support the creation of content as well as the impact of certain costs associated with the Special Committee investigation and related matters. (See the “Special Committee Investigation and Related Matters” discussion for further details.) The Company’s operating income margin decreased to 22% from 23%. Adjusted OIBDA increased 19%, or $60.5 million, to $384.6 million. The Company’s Adjusted OIBDA margin remained flat at 30%. Net Income increased to $195.6 million, or $2.29 per diluted share, from $177.4 million, or $2.09 per diluted share, primarily reflecting the increase in operating performance. The results for 2022 also reflected a decrease in interest expense partially offset by an increase in income taxes. Cash flows generated by operating activities were $325.6 million, an increase from $182.9 million, primarily due to the timing of collections associated with the Company’s large-scale international events and WWE Network, as well as improved operating performance. Free Cash Flow was $125.7 million, a decrease from $143.7 million, as the increase in cash flows generated by operating activities was offset by an increase in capital expenditures. For the twelve months ended December 31, 2022, the Company incurred $170.6 million of capital expenditures related to its new headquarter facility. Excluding the capital expenditures related to the new headquarter facility, Free Cash Flow for the twelve months ended December 31, 2022 was $296.3 million. Cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments were $478.7 million as of December 31, 2022. The Company currently estimates debt capacity under its revolving line of credit of $200 million. Return of Capital to Shareholders The Company returned $75.7 million to shareholders in 2022, including $40.0 million in share repurchases and $35.7 million in dividends paid. Under the Company’s existing stock repurchase program, approximately 5.3 million shares have been repurchased to-date at an average price of $54.09 per share. As of December 31, 2022, the Company had $211 million available under its existing $500 million stock repurchase authorization. AZTECA Lucha promoter Cesar Duran is once again living up to his reputation as a cunning powerbroker, having orchestrated a change in this Saturday’s World Featherweight title fight.


The reasons behind the matchmaking machinations remains unclear, however, Duran met behind closed doors with league officials and ultimately got what he wanted: a remixed line-up for this Saturday’s SuperFight card in Philadelphia.


The World Featherweight Champion Taya Valkyrie will now defend her title against Billie Starkz.


Starkz, whose star is rising seemingly higher and higher with each outing, is one of wrestling’s most promising up-and-coming competitors.


There are whispers that there’s been static between the champ and the teenage phenom. MLW.com confirmed a recent verbal exchange at an MLW event between the two.


A standout star on the midwest independent circuit, Starkz is already 4-year veteran of the squared circle, having debuted in her mid-teens. Fresh off her first tour of Japan, Starkz’s momentum will be at an all-time high as the Louisville native fights for her first world title.


Meanwhile, Delmi Exo, who many found to be a “significant threat” to Taya’s title reign, is protesting the remixed line-up. League officials are expected to announce her new opponent later today.

FBI capo Little Guido has strong-armed league officials into an inter-promotional championship bout as Guido and his cousin Ray Jaz, collectively known as the Full Blooded Italians, battle the DRAGONGATE Twin Gate Champions Natural Vibes for their belts!


With 2 reigns as an ECW World Tag Team Champion and background fighting in the UWFi, Guido is tough as nails and knows a thing or two about extreme environments.

The true origins of MMA and No Holds Barred fighting, a no ropes catch wrestling bout has no rounds and no rules.


Noted for its brutal submission holds (“hooks”) and incorporating several English wrestling styles, catch wrestling is a violent form of combat sports. In catch wrestling, expect to see some of the most brutal tosses and suplexes ever. No wrestling holds or moves are banned, regardless of how dangerous they might be.
