    El martes 24 comenzó la temporada con los campeones Nuggets recibiendo sus anillos y derrotando 119-107 a los Lakers. Nikola Jokic realizó el triple-double #106 de su carrera al anotar 29 puntos con 13 rebotes y 11 asistencias. LeBron James entró a su temporada #21 con 21 puntos, 8 rebotes y 5 asistencias. Los Suns vencieron 108-104, sin Beal, pero con Booker anotando 32 y Durant 18. Curry anotó 27.  

    El miércoles 25 los Hornets arrancaron la temporada ganando 116-110 a los Hawks con 24 puntos de Rozier y 25 de PJ Washington. Los Pacers anotaron 143 ante 120 de los Wizards con 24 puntos de Bruce Brown. Kristaps Porzingis anotó 30 con 5 bombazos para que Boston derrotará 108-104 a los Knicks. Un bombazo de Donovan Mitchell le dio el triunfo 114-113 a los Cavs sobre los Nets. 31 puntos de Shai Gilgeous-Alexander le dio un dominante triunfo a OKC. Luka Doncic realizó un triple-double de 33 puntos, 13 rebotes y 10 asistencias para liderar el triunfo 126-119 de Dallas ante los Spurs. El novato Lively lució mejor que Wembanyama al anotar 16 puntos con 10 rebotes vs 15 puntos con 5 rebotes y un tapón. Nada mal para dos novatos que arrancaron oficialmente sus carreras en la NBA. 

    El jueves 26 Milwaukee venció 118-117 a los 76ers gracias a 39 puntos de Damian Lillard en su debut con los Bucks. Los Lakers vencieron 100-95 a los Suns con 30 puntos de Anthony Davis y 21 puntos con 8 rebotes de LeBron James. Kevin Durant anotó 39 por los Suns. 

    El viernes 27 Los Jazz sobrevivieron a los Clippers 120-118 con Lauri Markkanen anotó 35 y Paul George 36. Curry anotó 41 vs 39 de Fox en el triunfo 122-114 de los Warriors sobre de los Kings. Doncic anotó 49 en el triunfo 125-120 de los Mavs sobre los Nets. Boston venció 119-111 a Miami gracias a 28 puntos de White y 27 de Brown. Donovan Mitchell anotó 43 vs 34 de SGA en la derrota 108-105 de los Cavs ante OKC. Caruso con un milagroso bombazo en tiempo extra le dio el triunfo a los Bulls sobre Toronto 104-103. Wembanyama logró su 1era victoria en la NBA cuando los Spurs vencieron 126-122 a Houston gracias a sus 21 puntos, 12 rebotes, 3 robos de balón y 3 tapones. 

    El sábado 28 LaVine anotó 51 puntos en causa perdida cuando los Bulls cayeron derrotados 118-102 ante Detroit. Embiid y Maxey anotaron 34 puntos cada uno en el triunfo 114-107 de los 76ers sobre Toronto. Durant con 26 puntos lideró el triunfo 126-104 de los Suns sobre los Jazz.

Los Kings vencieron a los Lakers 132-127 gracias a 37 puntos de Fox. LeBron James anotó 27. Los Clippers abusaron 123-83 de los Spurs con George anotando 19 junto a 5 robos de balón. Today, Nike, the NBA and its teams unveiled the 2023-24 Nike NBA City Edition uniforms, which represent the stories, history and heritage that make each franchise unique – honoring the inherent bond between, court, community and culture.  The uniforms, available for sale today at NBAStore.com, Nike.com and select retailers globally. Home teams will wear the uniforms throughout the NBA In-Season Tournament, which tips off Friday, Nov. 3, with a Group Play doubleheader on ESPN as the New York Knicks visit the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 p.m. ET and the Denver Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks at 10 p.m. ET.

Earlier this week, the NBA unveiled the official courts that teams will play on throughout the NBA In-Season Tournament. The first NBA In-Season Tournament tips off Friday, Nov. 3 with a Group Play doubleheader on ESPN as the New York Knicks visit the Milwaukee Bucks at 7:30 p.m. ET and the Denver Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks at 10 p.m. ET.  All 30 NBA teams will play four Group Play games on Tuesdays and Fridays in November.  Eight teams will advance to the single-elimination Knockout Rounds, which culminate with one team winning the NBA Cup at T-Mobile Arena as the In-Season Tournament champion.

 

NBA ANNOUNCES BROADCAST SCHEDULE ON ABC, ESPN AND TNT FOR KNOCKOUT ROUNDS OF INAUGURAL IN-SEASON TOURNAMENT

NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 2023 – The NBA today announced the national broadcast schedule on TNT, ESPN and ABC for the seven games in the Knockout Rounds of the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament.  The Knockout Rounds consist of single-elimination games in the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championship. 

TNT will televise all four games in the Quarterfinals, with doubleheaders on both Monday, Dec. 4 (7 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. ET or 7:30 p.m. ET/10 p.m. ET) and Tuesday, Dec. 5 (7 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. ET or 7:30 p.m. ET/10 p.m. ET).  For the Semifinals on Thursday, Dec. 7, ESPN will air the first game (5 p.m. ET) and TNT will broadcast the second game (9 p.m. ET). 

ABC will present the NBA In-Season Tournament Championship on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET.  After the game, ABC will televise the trophy ceremony, when the winning team is awarded the new NBA Cup.  

The Quarterfinals will be played in NBA team markets.  The Semifinals and Championship will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The NBA In-Season Tournament will tip off on Friday, Nov. 3 with Group Play in NBA team markets, including an ESPN doubleheader as the New York Knicks visit the Milwaukee Bucks (7:30 p.m. ET) and the Denver Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks (10 p.m. ET).  ESPN and TNT will combine to televise 14 games during Group Play.

Viewership for the season-opening doubleheader was up 80 percent from last year. The first two games of the season on ESPN generated an average audience of 2,756,000 viewers, up from 1,532,000 viewers in 2022.   The Boston Celtics victory over the New York Knicks averaged 2,552,000 viewers, peaking with 4,351,000 viewers at 9:45 p.m. ET. It was the most-watched ESPN season-opening early game since 2012 and up 76 percent from last year’s early game (New York Knicks vs. Memphis Grizzlies).   The nightcap, which featured the debut of Victor Wembanyama, averaged nearly three million viewers (2,989,000) as the Dallas Mavericks defeated the San Antonio Spurs. CHICAGO BULLS’ AYO DOSUNMU NAMED NBA CARES BOB LANIER COMMUNITY ASSIST AWARD OFFSEASON WINNER   -NBA to donate $10,000 to Ayo Dos Foundation, a non-profit founded by Dosunmu to provide opportunity and inspiration to Chicago youth-   -Dosunmu to receive the Bob Lanier Trophy to honor the life, legacy and leadership of Bob Lanier-   NEW YORK, October 26, 2023 – The NBA today announced Chicago Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu as the NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award offseason winner for his efforts to uplift and inspire the youth in his hometown of Chicago.  At the start of each season, the NBA will recognize one offseason winner and seven monthly winners for their outstanding work in the community.  The offseason award winner will receive the Bob Lanier Trophy and the monthly winners will receive the David Robinson Trophy.      Serving the Ayo Dos Foundation’s mission to create safe, accessible spaces for growth and education, Dosunmu spent his offseason working to bridge the gap of access to opportunity engaging more than 1,500 youth in Chicago.  As a native of Chicago and now playing for his hometown team, Dosunmu made it his mission to spread a message of hope, determination and possibility to the youth in his community and support their passion, talent and hard work.  In May, Dosunmu hosted a youth basketball clinic in partnership with Motorola for 60 youth from Black Kids Predict.  Led by Dosunmu and Bulls Youth Hoops coaches, the youth participated in skill stations focused on various fundamental basketball skills, while using technology developed by Black Kids Predict to enhance the experience and showcase the intersection of sports and technology.   In July, Dosunmu hosted his 2nd annual “Ayo’s Block Party” in honor of his childhood friend, Darius Brown, who Dosunmu lost at a young age due to gun violence.  Alongside Beyond the Ball and Urban Male Network, Dosunmu hosted a basketball clinic for 120 youth, which is double the youth from the previous year, and celebrated organizations that provide safe places for youth.  As part of the block party, youth received basketball skill instruction from Dosunmu and Bulls Youth Hoops coaches, free lunch, equipment donations, and Beyond the Ball and Urban Male Network each received a $5,000 grant donation to support their organization’s mission.   In continuing Dosunmu’s focus around youth and education, he launched an incentive program called “Ayo’s Scholars” at his former elementary school, Beasley Academic Center.  To celebrate the launch of the program, Dosunmu hosted a back-to-school pep rally in August for over 1,000 students.  The pep rally consisted of contests, chance to win prizes and special appearance from Benny the Bull and Chicago Bulls entertainers.  Additionally, Dosunmu committed to give every student that makes the honor roll tickets to a Bulls home game during the 2023-24 season.  In September, Dosunmu partnered with Nordstrom and Shoes That Fit to donate Nike sneakers to over 350 students at Philip Randolph Elementary School.  He assisted kids with shoe size fitting, took photos with the students and led some energetic students in exercise drills.  Dosunmu believes in providing students with a new pair of shoes to begin the school year.   “This recognition means the world to me, not just as a basketball player, but as a proud representative of this incredible city,” said Dosunmu.  “Being able to give back to the same city that raised me and made me the man I am today is an unforgettable feeling.  I dedicate this award to the youth of Chicago – dream fearlessly and stay focused, and the opportunities will be endless.”   Dosunmu will be surprised at practice by students from Beasley Academic Center as the winner of the Bob Lanier Community Assist Award on Thursday, Oct. 26.  He will be recognized on-court during the Bulls’ Nov. 6 game vs the Utah Jazz.  Chicago Bulls EVP of Basketball Operations Artūras Karnišovas will present him with the award.   The offseason NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award honors Bob Lanier, an NBA League Office executive and NBA Cares Ambassador for more than 30 years.  He had an enormous influence on the NBA family and young people globally, traveling the world to teach the values of the game and making a positive impact through his kindness and generosity.  The legacy he built will continue to live on through the offseason NBA Cares Bob Lanier Community Assist Award recognition, which honors the next generation of players’ commitment to positively impacting their community throughout the NBA season.  To learn more, please visit https://communityassist.nba.com/. (October 23, 2023) — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award. Named after Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor, now in its 21st year, recognizes the top point guard in Division I men’s college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates. “The point guards that have been named to the 2024 Bob Cousy Award Watch List truly embody the skills and characteristics that made Bob Cousy the ‘Houdini of the Hardwood,’” said John L. In late January, the watch list of 20 players for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February, to just 5. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee, where a winner will be selected.  The winner of the 2024 Bob Cousy Award will be presented on a to be determined date, along with the other four members of the Men’s Starting Five. Additional awards being presented include the Jerry West Award (Shooting Guard), Julius Erving Award (Small Forward), Karl Malone (Power Forward), and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (Center), in addition to the Women’s Starting Five.
