IGNITE SET FOR FULL 50-GAME G LEAGUE SLATE IN 2022-23 SEASON

-- NBA G League Ignite Eligible to Compete for NBA G League Championship with

Full NBA G League Season Schedule --

HENDERSON, Nev., Sept. 1, 2022 – For the first time, NBA G League Ignite will play a full 50-game NBA G League schedule, making the team eligible to compete for an NBA G League championship in the 2022-23 season.

The NBA G League schedule will once again be split into two parts: the 18-game Showcase Cup, followed by a 32-game regular season. Last season, Ignite played 27 total games – participating in 14 Showcase Cup games before playing 13 games on the Ignite Tour in lieu of G League regular season contests.

"Competing for a G League Championship will give our young Draft-eligible players an opportunity to experience a full professional season," said Ignite head coach Jason Hart. “We’re looking forward to using each of the 50 games to develop and get better every day while bringing great basketball to an energized fanbase in our new home in the Las Vegas Valley.”

Ignite debuts at The Dollar Loan Center with a Friday, Nov. 4 season opener against the Oklahoma City Blue, tipping off a 16-game Showcase Cup slate. Ignite will face the Blue, SLC Stars, South Bay Lakers, Santa Cruz Warriors, Ontario Clippers and Stockton Kings as part of its Showcase Cup regional pod. The teams with the best winning-percentage in each of the G League’s four regional pods, along with the next four teams across the league with the best win-percentages, will advance to compete for the Showcase Cup during the AT&T NBA G League Winter Showcase, set for Dec. 19-22 in Las Vegas.

Following the Showcase Cup, team records will reset in advance of the 32-game regular season. Ignite’s regular season tips off against the Clippers on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Among the team’s 16 regular-season games in its new home arena this year is an inaugural matchup between Ignite and the Fort Wayne Mad Ants plus a home series with the Mexico City Capitanes. Ignite will also make its first visits to a number of G League markets this year, including trips to the Birmingham Squadron, Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Texas Legends, Austin Spurs, Memphis Hustle and Raptors 905.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the top six teams in each conference will qualify for the NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google Pixel, followed by the NBA G League Finals presented by YouTube TV in April 2023.

Beginning this season, games that advance to overtime will be determined by a Final Target Score. The winner of overtime games during the season will be the first team to reach or surpass the Final Target Score, which will be the tied score after four quarters plus seven. For example, if the teams are tied at 100-100, the Final Target Score would be 107. Overtime will be untimed and games will end when a team makes a basket or free throw to reach or surpass the Final Target Score.

Hart returns for his second season with Ignite to lead a talented roster of elite youth players including NBA Draft 2023 top prospect Scoot Henderson, French U18 National Team star Sidy Cissoko and former Washington state forward Efe Abogidi.

Season ticket deposits for all 24 of Ignite’s home games are available now at TheDollarLoanCenter.com, and official merchandise can be purchased on TeamIgniteShop.com. Broadcast information and game promotions will be announced at a later date. Follow Ignite on Twitter and Instagram for the latest news and updates.

The 2022-23 NBA G League calendar includes several league-wide initiatives, such as Hoops for Troops in November, Season of Giving in December, National Mentorship Month in January, Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March.  Additionally, no games will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 8 as part of the NBA’s focus on promoting nonpartisan civic engagement on Election Day.

France U24 stun FIBA 3x3 Women's Series powerhouses in Eaubonne Stop 2022

AUGUST 27, 2022

EAUBONNE (France) - France U24 won the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Eaubonne Stop after beating Dusseldorf Zoos (GER) 21-16 in the final on August 26-27, 2022.

The Women's Series continues to be absolutely unpredictable: 10th stop of the season and already 8 different winners. France U24 - which qualified for the Women's Series after winning the Nations League in 2021 - won an event, which featured all three of the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022 medalists (France, Canada and China)!

After losing their opener against Canada, France U24 won their next 4 games, including a semi-final win against the European reigning champs Spain (16-11). In the title game, they met giant-killers Dusseldorf Zoos (GER), who had eliminated Canada in the semi-finals on a buzzer-beating shot from behind the arc, courtesy of Japanese sharpshooter Yuka Maeda.

With the game tied at 12 with 2 minutes to go, 22-year-old Emma Peytour took over. She scored 7 of France U24's next 9 points, including a clutch two-pointer with 19 seconds to go and the game-winning free-throw. Peytour had 9 points in the final and was awarded the MVP trophy after finishing second in scoring and third in player value (Canada's Michelle Plouffe ranked first in both categories).

Reaching the championship game in Eaubonne means that both teams still have a chance to qualify for the Women's Series Final. With just 1 stop to go, 7 teams have already secured their ticket to Constanta: Germany, France, Canada, USA, Lithuania, Spain and the Romanian hosts.

This leaves 5 teams for 1 ticket. China currently rank 8th but will not compete in the last stop next week in Montreal. The other 4 will play in Canada. Dusseldorf Zoos are in the driver's seat since they rank the highest (10th) of all active contenders. The next in line are Hungary (11th), France U24 (14th) and the Netherlands (17th).

The 11th and last stop (before the final) of the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series 2022 will take place in Montreal, Canada, on September 2-3.

EAUBONNE FINAL STANDINGS
1. France U24
2. Dusseldorf ZOOS (GER)
3. Canada
4. Spain
5. China

LAS VEGAS ACES’ BECKY HAMMON NAMED 2022 WNBA COACH OF THE YEAR

NEW YORK, Aug. 26, 2022 – Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon has been named the 2022 WNBA Coach of the Year, the WNBA announced today.

Hammon becomes the third former WNBA player to win the award, joining Sandy Brondello (2014) and Suzie McConnell-Serio (2004). She is the first former player to earn the honor in her debut season as a WNBA head coach and the only one to win the award while coaching the franchise for which she previously played.

Hammon received 27 votes from a national panel of 56 sportswriters and broadcasters.  Tanisha Wright of the Atlanta Dream finished in second place with 18 votes and James Wade of the Chicago Sky was third with eight votes.  Vickie Johnson of the Dallas Wings, Vanessa Nygaard of the Phoenix Mercury and Mike Thibault of the Washington Mystics each received one vote each.

In her first season as a WNBA head coach, Hammon guided Las Vegas to a 26-10 record and the No. 1 seed in the 2022 WNBA Playoffs presented by Google.  The Aces will continue their quest for the franchise’s first WNBA championship when they host the fourth-seeded Seattle Storm in Game 1 of a Semifinals series on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT) on ESPN.

Hammon led the Aces to the third-highest regular-season winning percentage in franchise history (.722).  Las Vegas posted a 9-1 record against Western Conference rivals in Commissioner’s Cup play during the first half of the regular season and defeated the Chicago Sky 93-83 in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game on July 26.

Under Hammon, four Aces players – guards Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young and forwards Dearica Hamby and A’ja Wilson – were named to the 2022 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game.  Hammon earned a spot as head coach in the game and guided Team Wilson to a 134-112 victory.

The Aces averaged a WNBA-high 90.4 points per game this season, the third-highest scoring average in league history and the highest mark since 2010.  They broke the WNBA record for most points by a team in a season opener in their 106-88 victory over the Mercury on May 6.  Las Vegas also set the WNBA record for points per game by a team’s starters in a season (77.5 ppg).

Hammon played 16 seasons in the WNBA, including her final eight with the San Antonio Silver Stars, for which she helped the franchise reach its first WNBA Finals, in 2008.  A six-time WNBA All-Star selection, Hammon was named as one of the 25 greatest players to ever play in the WNBA as part of the League’s 25th anniversary celebration during the 2021 season.  Her No. 25 jersey was retired by Las Vegas on Sept. 13, 2021, in a ceremony that served as the culmination of the franchise’s 25th anniversary alumni initiative, which saw the organization embrace its Utah and San Antonio roots established before the team moved to Las Vegas in 2018.

Before joining Las Vegas as head coach in 2022, Hammon spent eight seasons as an NBA assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs, who hired her in 2014 as the first full-time female assistant coach in league history.  During her tenure in San Antonio, Hammon became the first woman to serve as a head coach in an NBA regular season game (Dec. 20, 2020) and the first woman to head coach in the NBA Summer League (where she led the Spurs to the 2015 championship in Las Vegas).

Below are the voting results for the 2022 WNBA Coach of the Year Award as well as a list of past recipients.

AUGUST 25, 2022

NAHA CITY (Japan) - Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia will be in the spotlight from August 25 to 28 as the Tissot Countdown Clocks are unveiled in the three host countries to celebrate one year to the start of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

The latest milestone ahead of FIBA's flagship event for men will feature ceremonies attended by high-ranking officials from FIBA, Tissot, city and government officials, local organizers as well as players and other celebrities. The festivities in all three co-hosting nations will include an array of activities as the world gets ready for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 which tips off next year on August 25.

"This is an exciting milestone to be celebrating. There are only 365 days to go before we witness a historic FIBA Basketball World Cup - the first to be hosted by multiple nations," said FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis.

"We are excited to be working with three host countries, each of which is looking forward to soon having fans from around the world come to their country. Thanks to our long-standing partner Tissot for supplying the Countdown Clocks and our continued partnership with them. Basketball underlines our dynamic nature and our values of precision and performance. Offering exclusive services to the World Cup and celebrating this key moment also give our customers an additional reason to be proud of their commitment to Tissot and also reinforces our longstanding partnership with FIBA."

The Japanese celebrations will continue on August 27 in Okinawa City with special events and cultural exhibitions, and also on August 28 in Naha City with a special milestone celebration that will include various basketball activities, fun games and other festivities.

"We are very excited to have the Countdown Clocks unveiling as it means we are that much closer to welcoming fans from around the world to Japan for this great event," said Yuko Mitsuya, President of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Organizing Committee of Japan and Japanese Basketball Association President.
