CLEVELAND’S IRVING AND MEMPHIS’ RANDOLPH NAMED

NBA EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2015 – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Zach Randolph today were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan. 26, through Sunday, Feb. 1.

Irving led the league in scoring at 31.5 ppg, as he helped the Cavaliers to a 4-0 week.  Irving, who shot 51.2 percent (22-of-43) from three-point range, added 5.3 apg, 3.5 rpg, and 1.75 spg.  During a 99-94 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Jan. 28, Irving connected on 11-of-19 three-pointers en route to a career-high 55 points.  Irving and the Cavaliers have won 10 straight games.

Randolph averaged 20.5 points (10^th in the Western Conference) and 13.8 rebounds (second in the Western Conference) as he helped the Grizzlies to a 4-0 record.  Randolph recorded a point-rebound double-double in all four games, extending his streak of consecutive games with a double-double to 12.  On Jan. 31, Randolph contributed 21 points and 18 rebounds as Memphis topped the Oklahoma City Thunder 85-74.

Jan. 27 @ Detroit: Tallied 38 points and added six assists and three steals in a 103-95 win over the Pistons.

Jan. 28 vs. Portland: Connected on 11-of-19 three-pointers en route to a career-high 55 points in a 99-94 win over the Trail Blazers.

Jan. 30 vs. Sacramento: Scored 21 points and added six assists in a 101-90 win over the Kings.   

Jan. 31 @ Minnesota: Contributed 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 106-90 win over the Timberwolves.

Jan. 26 vs. Orlando: Posted 24 points, 10 rebounds and six assists during a 103-94 win over the Magic.  

Jan. 27 @ Dallas: Tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 109-90 win over the Mavericks.

Jan. 29 vs. Denver: Scored 15 points and pulled down 17 rebounds during a 99-69 win over the Nuggets.      

Jan. 31 vs. Oklahoma City: Posted his fourth double-double of the week with 21 points and 18 rebounds during a 85-74 win over the Thunder.

ATLANTA’S BUDENHOLZER AND GOLDEN STATE’S KERR NAMED

NBA EASTERN AND WESTERN CONFERENCE COACHES OF THE MONTH

NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2015 – The Atlanta Hawks’ Mike Budenholzer and the Golden State Warriors’ Steve Kerr today were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month, respectively, for games played in January. 

Budenholzer coached the Hawks to the best undefeated record in a calendar month in NBA history (17-0) and led them to the best mark in the NBA for the second consecutive month (December, 14-2). The Hawks ranked second in the league in point differential (+11.9) and field goal percentage (.481) in January. Atlanta held opponents to 93.7 points per game, good for fifth in the NBA, and surrendered 100 points in just four of 17 contests. Overall, the Hawks have won a franchise-record 19 straight games and own the NBA’s best record (40-8) this late in a season for the first time since moving to Atlanta in 1968.

Kerr guided the Warriors to the best January record in the West at 12-3. Golden State led the NBA in scoring (116.2 ppg), field goal percentage (.485) and point differential (+14.0). The Warriors went 10-1 at Oracle Arena, improving their home record to a league-best 22-2 for the season. Golden State’s 37-8 record paces the West and is the best start in the franchise’s 69-year history.

Budenholzer and Kerr will coach the Eastern and Western Conference All-Star teams, respectively, after clinching the best records in their conferences through games of Feb. 1.  The 64th NBA All-Star Game, set for Sunday, Feb. 15 in New York City, will be seen by fans in 215 countries and territories and will be heard in 47 languages. TNT will televise the All-Star Game for the 13th consecutive year, marking Turner Sports' 30th year of NBA All-Star coverage.
